WTO agreement for mutual global trade has been ignored.
The office of the U.S. Trade Representative published its annual report on China’s compliance with the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) agreement to keep all participant’s local markets open to foreign competition. China made that commitment when it joined the WTO in 2001, but in recent years, and in 2021 especially, the country has actively worked to close global trade in favor of state-led self-reliance.
“China has instead retained and expanded its state-led, non-market approach to the economy and trade,” Trade Representative Katherine Tai stated. “China’s policies and practices challenge the premise of the WTO’s rules and cause serious harm to workers and businesses around the world.’’
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the U.S. trade representative as she works to support the nation’s global competitiveness.
- For U.S. and WTO officials as they seek to ensure China’s compliance with trade agreements.
